Since Everyone Else Is Updating....
Hello All,
It's nice to jump onto this blog and find out what everyone is up to.
I seems that regional Christmas parties are trying to pop -up from coast-to-coast. Maybe we could set up a sat-link and simulcast everything. That's easy and cheap to do right?
I really want to go to the T.O. get-together but I have to work that night.
I'll be in Toronto (Scarberia) but my shift does not end until 1 O'clock and by the time I get doontoon everyone will either have left or be wasted.
Currently, I am working two jobs.
My weekday job is an advertising position for a company called Liquidation World. I essentially book advertising space in newspapers and radio stations across North America and I design and layout instore signing.
I have now become a certified Quark Ninja and have mastered the 4 ancient styles of digital publication and the 5-Hand Heart Explosion Technique.
It's funny, I paid absolutly no attention in those Quark tutorials and now I use it non-stop. I guess I should have quit reading Doonesbury comics and actually listened to what Hoffman was saying.
My weekend job is a freelance highlight writer for Rogers Sportsnet. I get to watch various sporting events, clip all the potential highlights and then write a up package for their newscast.
I really like this job, but I quickly realized how little I know about sports compared to the people who work there.
I have had to write up packages for two NASCAR races, those were the first two races of any kind that I think I have every watched... Let alone had to write about.
The commute from Brantford is a bitch but it's a cool job. They won't let me write packages for any Canadian hockey teams yet, so I have been covering a lot of Columbus, Nashville and Anaheim games. You know...the ones that don't really matter.
I also have to run the teleprompter for some of the newscasts. Remember in the TV course when the anchors would actually stay on script...These guys don't.
Anyway, Happy Holidays and whoever can make it to any of the holiday parties have a great time.
Chris
I just realized how long this post is so I won't be offended if you don't read it.
