The Rob Report
Hey Folks,
I too miss the journalism school crew. Hope you’re all very well.
I’ve been back home in Winnipeg for just over a month now. I’m working as a reporter/photographer for Canstar Community News. The same company that runs the Winnipeg Free Press owns Canstar and it publishes five weekly newspapers. The newsroom is pretty small and it’s a solid crew of people. Including myself, there are five reporters, along with a managing editor and a supplement coordinator.
The job is good. Along with covering a range of stories throughout Winnipeg, I’m also doing some rural coverage since one of our papers is published outside the city. It’s hectic, but I’m getting some great experience.
It’s good to be around family and friends here again too. I am, however, not looking forward to another prairie winter. It snowed here last week. What the eff?
It’s also my third time living in Winnipeg, which is somewhat strange. Occasionally, it’s like being 45 years old and still haunting high school. “Hey, want to come for a ride in my sweet-ass Camaro?”
Keep on rockin’ in the free world, my beautiful journalism peeps.
Adios,
Rob
